After stormy weather the night before, the day proved to be breathtaking today. Cumberland Gap was the backdrop for the “War Between The States” and they held the annual reenactment there this weekend. Many thanks to the people who travel and put on the show to keep alive the history of the area. Here are a few pics to show not only the history embed deep in the Cumberland Mountains, but also the beauty.

With the recent warm spell in the Cumberland Mountains, you can now see buds peeking out from the trees. Soon they’ll open up into beautiful blooms. Seasonal changes in the mountains are always full of movement from the tops of the trees down to the earth, churning and making ready for new growth. Nothing quite tops the changing seasons of the mountains. We hope you’ll join us as spring begins again, turning the barren lands of winter into lush mountains escapes.
